Networking


A client recently asked me why isn’t there a retail home healthcare (HHC) association where everyone could network and learn from each other? Good question!

As a lifelong educator, I have always been a firm believer in networking and learning from others. For years at Medtrade, I used round tables in my panel presentations to facilitate networking, grouping attendees by company specialties (i.e. Rx-based, retail HME, hospital-based, rehab, respiratory, HHA, hospice), so that they could discuss their respective issues and then present back to the group as a whole. This peer-to-peer sharing and learning was invaluable.

I presented the idea of forming a retail HHC networking group to several industry leaders, retail HME’s, and HHC Rx’s that I know. The result is that we now have a national networking group devoted to retailing HHC.

I have spent over twenty years visiting and working with HHC providers. I learn as I go and don’t have all of the answers myself (reminds me of another client years ago who used to call and ask me, “What Would Jack Do?” – yes, WWJD – every time she had a question about her new retail HHC business.) Now we have a forum for best business practices where every contribution is equally important and valuable.

The Alliance for Retail HC

The Alliance for Retail HC is a national association of businesses that incorporate within their home healthcare operations a retail showroom for selling home medical equipment and supplies. These businesses include but are not limited to pharmacies, HME’s, drug chains, health systems, respiratory companies, home health agencies, and hospices.

We are dedicated to creating and maintaining an open forum for members to learn from one another. We will provide the opportunities and tools for members to share experiences, exchange information and benefit from this synergistic alliance. Together we will be more knowledgeable and proactive than working individually.

  1. Ongoing member-only Retailing Forums online. Our Alliance forums on numerous key topics are available 24/7 for members to post and/or respond to questions and comments.
  2. Monthly conference call or webinar for members-only (includes log-in for one location) hosted by Jack Evans and other industry experts such as Bruce Brothis, Jeff Baird, Avi Weiss, Tom Ransom and Bob Weir. Scheduled for the last Tuesday of every month.
  3. Informal networking Retailing Breakfasts during annual meetings such as McKesson, ECRM, AmerisourceBergen and Medtrade.
  4. Accessibility to the leading HHC industry consultants to answer questions on retailing HHC.
  5. Competitive advantage as the Alliance will only allow one HME retailer member per sales territory.
